    I have a 90 GMC custom van with a 5.7L engine. When I moved it and it has been sitting up for 3 years, it would only drive 20 miles per hour. After I stopped it, the van would no longer start. The fuel pump and filter has been replaced, but it still will not start unless you por gas into the throttle body where the injectors are. Anyone have an idea as to what is wrong and what I need to do next.

    I have a 1991 Cadillac Seville V8-300 4.9L Coolant fan. When you turn on the A/C the fan kicks on but when you turn the A/C off the fan turns off. The problem that we're having is that when the car overheats at 201 degrees the fan won't kick on to cool the car off. What is causing the fan motor to not kick on?

    I own a 1994 1/2 ton Chevy pick up and my brake lights don't work when I start out they will work but after warm up they don,t on the previous recalls they installed a switch twice but it only worked for a short period and when we examined the switch there was no defect in it so obviously there was not the problem . I would like to find out where I can get a schematic for the brake wiring so I can trace it myself as the Chevy dealer who now is out of business could not solve the problem.Please advise me if you can I,d appreciate it very much

    My mom has a 1995 Plymouth Voyager. I Replaced the plugs, wires, distributor, dist. cap, the rotor button. Van ran fine, until it shut off one day while driving. To make a long story short I replaced the ingnition coil. After all was said and done the coil stopped working again almost a week later. WHAT DO I DO?

    I have a 1994 Buick LeSabre Ltd. that I just purchased this weekend with 59000 miles and one previous owner, who was a senior citizen who babied the car. Overall, the car runs amazingly. Just two issues that I was hoping someone can help me with: 1. The fans on the car's Electronic Comfort System are working, but they are not blowing hot air. If I put the digital thermostat to 80 degrees, it still blows cold-to-lukewarm air. It would be great to know what this issue could be before I take it to a mechanic. What would be the most common or obvious problem coming from these Limited Edition Buicks from 1994? 2. The transmission runs smooth as silk, however, I get like an oil-ish smell when I put the car in reverse. Is this something that I should keep an eye out for? Please note that I had purchased this car on Saturday and it was sitting in a mechanic's lot for the majority of the winter. Could the few months of inactivity and not having its engine turned over for a couple of months in the cold winter affect either of the issues I'm seeking help on? Thanks in advance.

    My question concerns the recently passed government stimulus package which will give new car buyers from 11/1/2008 to 12/31/2009 to deduct the sales tax they paid from their income tax. 1.Can the deduction be used when filing your 2008 return if purchased in either november or december of 2008. 2. If you leased a car during this entire period and your state, (like Ohio), pays the sales tax up front, can the individual claim that amount when filing their return as well?     I have a 1999 GMC Suburban 2500 4WD. I am replacing the fuel pump. It comes with a different wiring harness that must be spliced in. The vehicles harness has 4 wires (purple w/white stripe, grey, and 2 black where one is a slightly smaller gauge). The carter fuel pump has a harness that has 4 wires (grey, lavender(no stripe), black, and orange with a black stripe). Does anyone know how these should match up. Thanks for any help.     I have a 95 Olds 88 LSS with comfort control, we had to replace the battery and now the temperature sensor blinks. With the sensor blinking the comfort control modulates to blow cold air. Is there a way to reset the sensor?

    I have a 2001 Ford Windstar. At the moment, I have an ABS warning light, emergency brake "on" light ( the brake isn't on), and neither my speedometer or odometer work. Ref the ABS, I suspect the problems are either the ABS controllers or a wiring fault. Check of the ABS controller indicates one of the hot leads( from the cabin) isn't powered. I've no clue about the speedo or odometer. Other than trade it in, any suggestions?

    I have a 92 Dodge Dynasty. Last Tueday (Sept.30) it dropped out of drive gear into neutral while driving down the highway. It would only go into 1st gear thereafter, and it took about an hour to drive home at that speed. It also will not go into reverse. Any suggestions on why this happened?     I have a 1996 oldsmobile ciera V6 with 45K miles and I have a left front caliper that will not release all the time. I replaced the caliper twice and finally noticed that it is not frozen, but instead the hydraulic back pressure is not relieved. I do not have an ABS light light on. Has anyone had the same issue? Is it in the ANTI lock servo mechanism nexty to the master cyclinder? Can it be serviced/rebuilt or it it a simple cleaning needed? Any information would be appreciated. thanks for your time

    I have a 2003 Ford Sport Trac that is sputtering when I turn it on. I have to keep gas on it when slowing or it will stall and floor it to get up a hill. I have had the O2 sensors, coils, spark plugs and injectors all checked and everything is fine. It is showing a misfire to 3 and 6 when hooked up to computer but can't seem to figure out why it is misfiring. Just looking for a direction to look next without having to hit the dealership.

    i recently put a new fuel pump in my 1997 GMC Sierra and i recently put a new fuel pump in it. i went to start it and my engine wouldnt go. My engine is only firing sparks to cylinder 1,6,4and3.     i have a 90 dodge ram b 250 fullsize van v6 3.9l. (no start!) just had alot of work done to it engine wise new map sensor,plugs and wires,new distrbutor cap and rotor button new fuel injector and fuel filter i pulled it in about 4 days ago to change rear breaks and drum anyways went to start it all i can is for the engine to crank but no start and if i advance the timing by turning the distrbutor a couple degress clockwise when i try to start it the samething but when i stop and the key fulls back to the run postion the engine will spite and spouter litely for a couple seconds then backfires thro the throttlebody its getting spark and fuel conprrestion seems good therefor i thought it was the timing so i pulled the #1 plug set at TDC got under it check my marks good then i check the rotor button point2 #1 could it maybe the crankshaft postioning sensor orn what can you or anyone help me before i put bullet in it thank you for atleast letting me bi*ch

    I have a ford f150 with v6 4.2 , can't get it to start. replaced computer, camshaft sensor,crankcase sensor. checked voltage out of the computer to camshaft sensor it reads 11vdc, but will pulse when turning engine. The book calls for 5v. engine will start momentarily when fuel is sprayed in the intake manually.

It's not shifting into 4wd, well until recently I took off the 4wd actuator I scufffed up the bruches and greased it to see if that was the problem and since I put it back on it's saying it's in 4wd but wont shift to 4L or 2H I've checked all of the fuses and can't figure out what would stop it from shifting

    I have a 2001 Olds Alero with about 166,000 miles and received good service out of my car until lately. The engine idles abnormally fast, about 1500 rpm's (this is a 2.4 four cyclinder with a five speed std.). I have just recently had the injectors cleaned and a new tps switch changed.     Ok, I got the correct wiring harness for the speaker wires. However, I have everything wired up right and I get no sound. The deck has power, and seems to be getting reception (the stereo light flashes as I adjust the tuning), but no sound whatsoever. I've heard something about needing to bypass an amp, but I'm not sure if there is an amp at all, or how I would go about bypassing it if there is. I don't see an amp anywhere, but I've heard that there are sometimes 'amps' built into the speaker enclosures in the doors and such, in high end cars. Any ideas?

    I have a 1991 Lincoln Continental, and I'm trying to install a new car stereo. I bought a wiring adapter, and I think I've got the one harness with the accesory, ignition, etc all figured out. However, the speaker harness that came in the same package doesn't have a corresponding plug in the dash. There's a smaller square-ish plug in the dash which has the right number of leads in it to be a speaker harness, but the one that came with the kit is a similar shape to the non-speaker harness. Any ideas? The kit said it's good for Ford/Lincoln/Mercury from like '86-'04, so an '01 should be good to go, right? Am I missing something, or am I just an idiot? lol

    I just bought my daughter a used 1999 Mercury Sable. She reports that the car feels sluggish, kind of gains and loses power when on an uphill at about 50+ mph. Feels like the transmission may be slipping in and out of gear. Yesterday the check engine light went on while this was happening. Does anybody know if this may be the recall problem with regards to the transmission-oil cooler line that was factory installed, which contacts ABS module bracket and can wear over time and develop a leak? Or is this probably strictly an old transmission that needs to be replaced? The car has about 145,000 miles on it.

    I have almost the exact same problem as Christina and her 1988 Mazda 626. I have a 1998 Mazda 626 automatic non turbo. I have a factory alternator, which is still in good condition, (I had it tested at 3 different places and all claimed it was still good), and a new battery. My car won't start. When I get it jumped, it won't stay charged. Can someone tell me what is draining my battery or why won't my alternator keep it charged? Would really appreciate any suggestions or help. Thank you.

    I have a 1994 buick century, it is leaking fluid from passenger side of the car towards the back of the engine compartment not from the radiator or the heater core (heater core has been bypassed) could this be the water pump and can I get advise to what I need to repair it myself? Thank You

    I have a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara/ 2.7 V-6, 2wd. I have located the MAF/IAT sensor. I want to connect a performance chip into the system but it only has a red and a black wire. My sensor has five wires. Which two do I connect to ( red, gray/grn strip, blue,green, blue/bk strip. Can you help??

    I have a 1990 toyota camry with a tail light outage sensor thats not working. I opened the box up and it has a resistor that is broken. unfortunatly just the wires are left and the tranistor is gone. Every thing else on the circut board looks fine. If I could figure out what value the resistor is I could repair it and save 195.00 So I am looking for the diagram for the circut board. What site would be good. Thanks

    My 1991 Buick Park Avenue 3.8L DOHC started skipping and cut off while going 35mph. When checking the plug wires we noticed they had come apart(the medal insert came out of the boot)so we replaced the wires. First we had it the wires crossed called autozone and they told us to start at the back side of the firewall and firing order was 1-6-5-4-3-2 after putting the wires ln beginning at the back side the car would not even start so my husband remembered how the wires were arranged and releazied we had to start at the front side of the motor(3 plugs on the front of the motor and 3 near the firewall on the back side of the motor).The car now starts but is still skipping REALLY BAD and there is also a REAL BAD ODOR and white smoke coming out of the muffler. Is it possible that now the problem is a stopped up catalytic converter or what is it someone PLEASE help.

    Hey, everyone. I have a '90 Pontiac Grand AM equipped with a 2.5L TBI l4 (Vin "U") engine, and I was wondering, even though it doesn't seem to come factory-equipped with a fuel pressure regulator, is it possible to add one? It idles a bit roughly and unevenly, and the lights and such pulsate (like it's not getting consistent power because the idle isn't smooth? Or maybe it's not idling smoothly because of the inconsistent power...). It's fine out on the highway, and except for the uneven idle, the car works great, generally getting 26-31MPG with 240k+ miles on it. I just want to know if I can get even more out of it by smoothing the fuel flow. One last thing, can I use those "performance-boosting modules" found on eBay and various other places on the 'net with this engine? I know it's not a "true" fuel-injection system.

    I've got a problem with 4-wheel Anti Lock Brakes. It has a wheel speed sensor on each front wheel and uses the vehicle speed sensor to detect rear wheel lock-up. What happens is as the speed reaches say 5 mph, they start to function even though no wheel lockup is imminent. Which means the truck doesn't want to stop at stop signs. Whatever fault is present is not being detected by the system. If it were the system would be disabled and the abs lite would come on. Disconnecting each front wheel sensor causes a fault, the speedometer works fine.

    okay, my '94 chevy blazer just stopped running on me. I noticed my battery light came on when I started it up but drove down to the gas station. pumped my gas, got back in and it wouldn't even turn over. got someone to jump me off and drove down to the local auto zone. they checked my battery and said it was fine it was probably my alt. so I took that to a starter and alt. shop and had it rebuilt. got it back in and still nothing! same senario. so is this my starter? I've also had a miss in it. it doesn't want to idle. at times when I go to stop it would die on me and a friend said he thought it was my O2 sensor, but I don't really know anyone who knows what they are talking about. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!!! I'm just a simple girl that was taught the basics of changing the oil and checkin spark plugs but that's as far as I've gotten. I would appreciate any help that could be offered. I've been on here before regarding e brake problems I was having and got great results in the help offered there. Thanks for your time.

    I recently purchased a 1997 Mazda Protege LX. The check engine light came on and it sounds like the water pump is whining. Will a bad water pump trigger the check engine light?     I just bought a used 2001 Ford Windstar.The heater vents(and floor vents) and AC vents in front and back are not working. Hot/cool air blows out the defrost vent by windsheild but nothing out the actual vents. It this a major repair?

    I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox. On occasion there will be a wax melting smell and smoke puffs that come from the stearing colum. I have taken it in twice to the shop, the first time they replaced the SIR coil and that didn't solve the problem the second time (another shop) they didn't find anything out of the ordinary. It seems to happen shortly after I wash my car or after a storm. One service tech also said that it could be the oil they put on the contacts burning off. Any insight would be appreciated.

    I just purchased a 1995 chevy Lumina APV, it was running very poor, I have since replaced, spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, fuel and air filters, it runs better but misses at idle, and the converter gets red hot after running for a while. It also seems to have alot of vaccum in to valve cover, when the pcv valve is removed, alot of vaccun is drawn into the valve cover. any help would be appreceiated.

    I have two problems with my 89 Ford Aerostar Cargo Van, 3.0 engine. First the AC Compressor cuts on and off and will not cool because the Compressor will not stay on. I know that it is an electrical problem but I don't know where to start. Also there is no air coming out of my vents inside the cab. You can here the air blowing but nothing comes out of the vents either on AC or Heat. I think that it is a problem with the linkage not opening the doors that let the air in but I don't know where the linkage is on my van. I would appreciat any help that anyone can give.     Hi I enjoy reading your entries and hope you can help me. I own a 1985 Ford Bronco II 4x4 with a manual transmission. I am looking for the gas filler hose. No one seems to carry them anymore. This hose is unique in that it makes a 90 degree turn, then flattens out and finally turns again before connecting to the gas tank. Can you help? thanks!
