1997 Q45 SAFETY FEATURES

Q45 Navbar

In the Q45, safety is no accident.

The best way to prepare you for an accident is to help you avoid one. That's why the Q45 offers responsive handling, anti-lock braking system (ABS) and standard Traction Control System (TCS) with an integrated viscous limited-slip differential.

But should the unavoidable happen, the Q45 features dual air bags, seat belt pre-tensioners for both the driver and front seat passenger, energy absorbing steering column, side anti intrusion door guard beams and impact crumple zones. Because, quite simply, the most important part in the Q45 cannot be replaced: you.

Anti-Lock Braking System
To help get you out of an emergency situation quickly, the Q45 features a powerful engine, responsive steering and a superb suspension system. And if you have to brake and steer at the same time, the Q45 features one of the best anti-lock braking systems (ABS) available. In a sudden stop, the ABS automatically pulses the four wheel disc brakes 10-18 times per second to help you avoid a lock up. On wet roads, ABS provides imporved steering control while braking, a crucial advantage during an emergency situation.

Crumple Zones
In the front and rear of every Q45 , you'll find the peace of mind we call "crumple zones." During certain collisions, these crumple zones are designed to absorb crash energy, helping to protect you and your passengers.

Dual Air Bags
Since the company's inception, Infiniti has always been in the forefront of safety. Infiniti was one of the first to feature standard dual air bags, standard ABS brakes, and seat belt pre-tensioners for both the driver and front seat passenger.* In fact, each air bag is controlled by sensors with gold-plated terminals which help prevent corrosion and improve the transmission of an electronic pulse that triggers the inflation of the air bags. These terminals also help ensure that the seat belt pre-tensioners automatically tighten the front belts during certain frontal collisions.

*With a passenger side air bag, please be aware that a rear-facing child restraint must NOT be placed in the front passenger seat and should only be used in a rear seat. Always follow the child restraint manufacturer's instructions. See the vehicle Owner's Manual for details on proper seat belt and child restraint use.

Adjustable Seat Belts with Pre-Tensioners
As an added protective feature, the Infiniti Q45 includes front seat belts with pre-tensioners. The seat belt pre-tensioner system activates with the air bags. Working with the seat belt retractors, it helps to tighten the seat belts when the vehicle becomes involved in certain types of frontal collisions. Seat belts help reduce the the risk of serious injury in accidents. One of the biggest complaints about shoulder safety belts is how uncomfortable they can be. With the Q45's adjustable driver's and front passenger's shoulder belt anchors, you can adjust the height of the belt to the most comfortable position.

Steel Side Door Guard Beams
To protect passengers in the event of a side collision, every door in the Infiniti Q45 features steel side anti-intrusion door guard beams that meet 1997 Federal Dynamic Side Impact Standards.

Windshield Water Channel
In order to improve visibility during inclement weather, Infiniti devised a Windshield Water Channel that directs water to the sides of the windshield and over the tope of the Q45. In driving rain, the benefit of this design becomes perfectly clear.

Keyless Remote Entry
The Q45 features a keyless remote entry and vehicle security system that lets you lock and unlock doors, pop the trunk, and activate a panic alarm. All from an unobstructed distance of up to 48 feet away. For an added measure of protection, each Q45 comes with three magnetically coded keys, equipped with one of over 65,000 different codes. Any attempt to start your Q45 without the proper magnetically coded key disables the ignition system. And for added safety, all door locks cylinders are pick resistant and rear doors feature child safety door locks.

Integrated HomeLink® Transmitter
On the driver's side visor of the Q45 are three little buttons that will give you a great deal of comfort and security. It's something Infiniti calls the Integrated HomeLink® Transmitter. An ingenious device that you can program to operate your home's radio controlled devices. Like your garage door opener, your electric gates or even your lighting system*. All from the comfort and safety of your Q45.

*HomeLink® home lighting system required for use.
